Reading most of these makes me realize lots of people are just politically incoherent. Like they have some kind of base understanding or vibe when it comes to the political reality of the world, but it's often informed from pop-history or populist slop takes online, rather then actual thoughts . Which makes me think, were probably why the world sucks more then anything else.

AI is simultaneously a target of fearmongering and drastically overestimated in value. Some of the most common reason people hate AI is because 1:It takes jobs, 2: the generate art looks ugly, or 3:steals Data
- Of course it takes jobs. This problem is not new. Everyone in history has complained about jobs being taken every time a new technology was invented. Nobody is going to stifle advancment just to keep someone employed. Thats planned stagnation. If you won't accept AI, someone else will, and they will surpass you.
- AI is for a LOT more than generated art, but the only reason people have a problem with it is because it looks ugly FOR NOW. 2 years ago, people said AI couldn't figure out how to do faces and hands, and now that problem is solved. AI art being ugly is subjective. There will be people on Earth who will accept it and be willing to pay money for it, especially when it can be made cheaper than human.
- yes it takes data, that's how it learns. It absorbs everything is taught in order to achieves conclusions and make outputs based on those conclusions. No, it is not theft (unless there was a privacy limitation on it from being viewed), because it is no different than taking a picture or looking at art for reference or inspiration. People are afraid of AI taking their private info, yet still careless use the internet on a daily basis. You are scared until you realize its inconvenient to fight against it.
-
on the other hand, businesses and investors LOVE to hype up AI as the solution to all of life's problems . This AI bubble will eventually pop, since all they have been doing is making machines smarter with no substantial output to justify its cost.
- It can think fast, but it cannot think instantaneously, not to mention the hardware it is housed in, there are always limits.
- using AI doesnt make you smarter. It only helps you reach conclusions faster. If you are stupid, then the AI you use will be stupid faster for you. it is still limited by the logic and the data you provide. If the data you provide its faulty, then it will provide faulty conclusions.
- The convenience of a calculator is that you dont have to do long equations in your head or on paper. You still need to know how to do the math in practice. AI works the same, you cannot expect it to do everything for you, otherwise things can go wrong and you will be blind to it.
Funny. On an ideological basis the anti-AI rhetoric reminds me of the Luddites of the 19th century (at least in regards to quality and concern for employment). AI is indeed inherently a block of clay, you could form a tool or form a weapon out of it, metaphorically speaking. I think it would however be foolish to disregard that the ONLY people capable of administrative power over these ''tools'' are international conglomerates and nation states. It's only logical that everything going forward is going to min/max everything around AI. People, planet and morals be damned.
On an economic note it will be interesting to follow the continuing trend, the tendency of the rate of profit to fall (TRPF), as a result of AI
On a social note we are very much on the eve of AI assisted mass surveillance (Europe is notoriously moving towards it), AI killer drones making (not so) moral decisions, mass disinformation etc. etc. and you can bet your ass the superpowers and corporations will do anything necessary to further that unrestricted development.
Pandora's box is open, don't you think?
Its not the tech that is the problem, its the people.
Its the same with any major human developmen,
For eg the.discovery of nuclear fission, an incredible source of energy . And the first thing that came to mind was a bomb
I always feel like all my takes are hot takes. Like my belief that everyone should be armed.
Ds3 is like a 5/10 game its alright but I would prefer other souls likes
The Star Wars Prequels get way to much hate and are almost comparable to the original trilogy overall
heres the thing:
George Lucas had a great vision with Star Wars, but he has always had terrible execution. Even back during the original trilogy, he was a terrible writer. Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill used to make fun of him for it all the time and they had to take turns telling him their lines are terrible. Lucas was a huge nerd, so half of their lines were filled with incomprehensible sci-fi jargon that just made the plot more convoluted. Thankfully his wife and other writers helped simplify his script and we got the original trilogy we know today.
however, the prequels rolled around. the staff was different than the trilogy. Lucas divorced his wife and previous assistant writers did not help on this script, so Lucas had no filter. His unfiltered writing allowed for a bigger Star Wars universe, but again, it made it convoluted and messy. He also poorly managed the Phantom Menace, which caused a lot of stress among the crew (including the child actor for Anakin who actually went insane from the stress). Still, the opened up universe allowed for many other competent writers to take up the reign and add onto it, thus we got the 2D Clone Wars series and the 3D show most people know.

the reason why the sequel trilogy was bad can be chalked up to one single word: China
Disney was in the phase where they try to appeal to the Chinese market since they have the larger population than US. Force Awakens did great, however the Chinese test audience showed they did not like Finn for the simply reason was that he was black. They originally had him planned to be a jedi and love interest for Rey, but they scrapped that midway through Last Jedi due to Chinese reception. This caused rippled effects in the writing where they wanted a big ending like Avengers while the executives kept breathing down their neck and demanding last minute changes.
I agree in the sense that George Lucas can simply not write non-cringy dialogue. Thankfully the German dub carries a lot of the weight. He truly works best, as one Youtuber once said, when he has a team to bounce his ideas around and to limit his nonsense sometimes. I think the sequels are besides its obvious necessity lore wise as central Disney canon not even worth mentioning in any further context as they are neither well made nor fun to watch. Thank you Kathleen Kennedy and Hellspawn JJ Abrams. Here's to Filoni.
Credits where credits are due however to the combined performance of the entire prequel crew for taking up the monumental footsteps that were the original trilogy. Besides Hayden Christensens arguably bad acting, I think the sword fighting scenes in particular show a way in which the prequels have improved upon the original trilogy. Furthermore I think the prequel development was burdened to begin with. It is clear that 3 movies are simply not enough to accurately portray the universe that is Star Wars. This is best portrayed by the notoriously obvious Camino clone plotline (the shows are therefore not supplementary but plain necessary). In this way and many others I do not think that the prequels could be significantly improved simply due to industry standards and expectations of the casual viewer. Another point why I really love the prequels is the, in my opinion, better implemented music and its greater focus on republic politics.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think you are incorrect, in fact I totally agree with you. I just think the prequels have pretty much reached their Zenith with what is possible when combining that specific, huge universe in the given industry.
good call, forgot to mention that. The passion and effort of the actors is what kept the prequel trilogy even HALF of how good it was now. The actors, mostly Christopher Lee since he was an actual knight, trained in fencing to the point were they were moving the lightsabers too fast for the camera to track. They even said "we had to slow down because our speed looked unrealistic". ON THE OTHER HAND, many of the stunt actors for the sequel trilogy said it was a slog working with the main cast. None of the actors refused to train in fencing nor did any of the managers force them too. This lead to actors missing their fight queues even in the final cut, where the stunt actors had no choice but to pretend like they got hit by nothing. if you watch the fight scene after Rey killed Snoke, you'll see what i mean.
Just like with most other American and European medias, corporate mentality and DEI ruined what was suppose to be a passion project of a few enthusiastic individuals.
environmental policy is a lie, if we really cared about the environment we'd be creating more efficient engines and energy infrastructure, instead we push technologies that release highly toxic elements into the environment, all in a bid to formally adopt energy credits as a global currency.
Do we use majority nuclear power or are people trying to still use costly wind and solar power?
everyone is still scared of nuclear power because of misinformation about how Chernobyl, Fukushima, and how nukes work. People still think solar and wind have no draw backs
